Huskies Face UMass After Break
In the first two games of the new year, the Northeastern Huskies will face #15 UMass. Coming of a string off slow games, the Northeastern team is hoping to come up with a very important win in their quest to break into noortheast rankings. After holding their own despite penalty trouble againts #4 UConn before the break, the team is expecting a chance to prove themselves against a previously ranked team. Staying out of the box will be one of the main factors that might contribute to a win, as will capitalizing on scoring chances, two things that the Huskies have had a hard time with in recent games. The puck drops at 11 AM on saturday at UMass and 7:15 on Sunday at Matthews.
Northeastern Gains Revenge over Westfield State In their rematch versus Westfield state, the Club Huskies took to scoring early, netting two goals in the first period and one in the 3rd. As the game seemed to be over in the third, skaters left open in front of the net and a missed highstick that resulted in a goal allowed the Owls to tie the game up with only 1 minute left to play. A lucky break in the form of a powerplay gave the Huskies another chance at redemption. Not wanting to see the same fate seen in the last game, Billy Healey put his second career goal against Westfield away with a blast from the point becoming the winning goal in a highly transitional game. |
Huskies Fall to Westfield State in OT Special teams was the name of the game as Westfield State capitalized on 3 of their powerplays while Northeastern netted a powerplay goal and a shorthanded goal of their own. After trailing 4-1 going into the 3rd period, the Huskies were forced to dig deep and gain some drive in order to pull off a comeback; and that they did. With goals from Bill Healey, BJ McGee and Mike Hanlon, Northeastern mounted a huge comeback to force the game into overtime only to be downed by a unfortunate bounce that found its way over the shoulder of Husky netminder, John Harris. The Huskies look to bounce back next Saturday at home against Westfield State after this Tuesday's game versus BU in the Championship of the Club Beanpot. (11/12/07) |

Northeastern's Men's Club Hockey pulled an edgy win in the first round of the Club Beanpot to advance to next week's Championship game against BU. After going scoreless early in the first period, Northeastern's Jay Silva connected a nice pass on a two-on-one to Mike Hanlon who put it past Harvard's goaltender. A nice relief after a slow period for Northeastern, the goal only added to the tension as it remained the only tally until midway through the third period when Paul Eruzione scored a much needed rebound goal. John Harris had 24 shots during the shutout to keep Harvard at bay. (11/7/07) |
Northeastern to Face Harvard JV In the first annual Club Beanpot, played at Harvard's Brighton Hockey Center, Northeastern will face Harvard's JV team in the first Round. Having played the Crimson only 1 time before, the huskies are hoping for another big win against their crosstown rivals. The match is sure to be made interesting by the 4th line Varsity team members that are brought down for JV games. The Huskies will be Looking for big performances from key players with a number of injuries and other scratches. (11/6/07) |
